Cold-rolled Advantages And Disadvantages

- Jun 20, 2017 -

Cold rolling refers to the steel plate or steel strip processed into various types of steels at room temperature, after cold-drawn, Leng, cold, etc.

Advantages:

Rapid prototyping, high yield, and no damage to the coating, can be made into a variety of cross-section forms to meet the needs of the use of conditions; cold-rolled Steel can make a lot of plastic deformation, thus improving the yield point of steel.

Shortcomings:

1. Although there is no thermal plastic compression during the molding process, residual stress is still present in the section, which will have an effect on the properties of the whole and local buckling of steel.

2. Cold-rolled steel type generally is the opening section, makes the free torsional stiffness of the section is lower, when bending is prone to twist, bending and torsional buckling is easy to appear, and the torsional performance is poor;

3. Cold-rolled steel wall thickness is small, at the corner of the plate cohesion is not thickened, the ability to withstand local concentrated load is weak.
